I am starting a new series where I want to feature a bookstagrammer each month for all of you to meet! Having been on bookstagram for almost four years now, I have met some truly amazing people. Kait from @thepages.between.thewaves is one of those lovely people! We are both from Washington State and instantly connected over our love of thrillers.

Why should you follow her? If you check out her page, you will see that she is a world traveler and her adventures have inspired me to take some trips of my own! When I say world traveler, I am not kidding… Kait recently reached her goal of visiting all 7 continents within a year! Her book account offers amazing views from around the world and top notch book recommendations from a variety of genres. She is one of those content creators who genuinely wants to connect with other readers and she is a wonderful hype girl for other’s accounts.

What is her favorite thing about the bookstagram community? Her favorite thing is meeting friends from all over and sharing the love of reading. She told me “picking up new recommendations isn’t too bad either, but my shelves are definitely suffering from that aspect!”

What advice does she offer a new bookstagrammer? Her best advice for a new bookstagrammer is to just have fun! “Change your aesthetic up, try new lighting or poses and don’t try to be like someone else because there is always going to be something they are doing that you think is better.” Overall, she hopes that all bookstagrammers will remember that it’s not about the numbers, it’s about having fun doing what we all love so much: reading!

How did she fall in love with reading? “Well that’s a funny story. I became an avid reader starting in grade school after explicitly telling my family that reading was boring and I would never read for fun the year prior. I think my first love was Goosebumps! I read all through high school then stopped once I was in my early 20s… only read a couple books a year then. But, like most people on bookstagram, I really picked it back up during 2020 when I had nothing else to do. Now, I can’t imagine not reading as a hobby!”

What books does she always recommend? Kait has recommended several five star reads to me over the years and I always trust her reviews. She says that she has been told she is “quite good at finding the perfect book for people” and I believe it! Her solid go to recommendations are:

”If you really like fantasy but aren’t into spice, try Caraval by Stephanie Garber or A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.”

”If you want to try romantasy A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas or From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout are amazing.”

”If you love thrillers, I recommend anything by Ruth Ware, Riley Sager or Grady Hendrix (for horror fans).”

”For my romance lovers, I mostly read sapphic romance as my buffers in between series.” She promotes reading romance of all kinds, whatever you are into!

When she isn’t reading, what does she like to do? If you follow her, you will learn that Kait works on a cruise ship and has seen the world. “If I’m at work on the ship and I’m not reading, I am either out with friends in the port we are docked in, watching Critical Role, or taking a nap. If I’m at home then I’m probably hanging out with my family and my dog!”
